Hello! I'm Nathan Warnberg, an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. I earned my Ph.D. in Mathematics from Iowa State University and have spent my career helping students develop mathematical understanding, confidence, and problem-solving skills.
My teaching experience spans a wide range of courses, including Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I-III, Linear Algebra, Graph Theory, and other upper-level mathematics courses. In addition to teaching at the university level, I have worked extensively with high school students, college students, and adult learners.
One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been helping students who believe they are "not math people." I have found that success in mathematics is often less about innate ability and more about having the right support, strategies, and mindset. My goal as a tutor is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing a deeper understanding of the material.
Beyond the classroom, I have trained and supported university tutors, mentored undergraduate researchers, and worked with students from a wide variety of backgrounds and skill levels. These experiences have helped me develop a flexible teaching style that adapts to each student's needs and learning preferences.
When I'm not teaching or tutoring, I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, beekeeping, reading, playing board games, juggling, and practicing sleight-of-hand card magic.
I believe mathematics should be challenging, engaging, and ultimately rewarding. Whether you're trying to improve your grades, prepare for an exam, or gain confidence in a math course, I'd be happy to help.
